Loughs Cloonee, Urach and Inchiquin

Location: This is a very scenic lough situated 8 miles south of Kenmare town on the Kenmare to Castletownbear Road.

Description: The lakes hold a good stock of brown trout, with few sea trout from early August and occasional salmon. Bank fishing is not allowed.

Lough Cloonee is divided into two connected Loughs. The bigger lough is very shallow especially along the nothern shore and risk of grounding is possible over many areas.  However these areas are good fish holding areas also where the rocks break surface are all good trout holding places.

Season: March 15th – October 12th.

Cost: Fishing is free. However you will require a boat which are supplied at 7.50 Euros and hour without an outboard. Engines are not available. Permission to fish can be obtained from Mrs Mary O’Shea, Lake House, Cloonee, Kenmare, Tel 064-84205 (six boats for hire).
